If you’re an avid streamer then you know by now that Sony has shut down its streaming service PlayStation Vue for good. Surprisingly, this hasn’t narrowed down your options because there’s always an alternative that matches or even exceeds the last one. We are talking about YouTube TV.
But, if you were a PlayStation Vue subscriber and are looking for an alternative then you may want to look into YouTube TV. This recently launched streaming service is one of the most diverse options on the market.

Not too long ago, PlayStation Vue was one of the most popular streaming services on the market. But, it later experienced problems which manifested as pricing and channels changes. These and other issues compounded over time are what caused the platform to eventually shut down.

YouTube TV subscriptions are available from $49. 99 a month and there are different plans and packages available to suit different preferences. A 5-day free trial is also available for those who want to wet their feet before committing.

DVR
Included in your YouTube TV subscription account is unlimited storage courtesy of the Cloud DVR feature. This means you can download shows for offline viewing on any of your devices, and at the same time.
PlayStation Vue’s Core subscription offered a similar package but you could only save the content for 28 days, after which it would disappear. Both options allow you to store up to 500 programs at a time.
Simultaneous Viewing
One of the many benefits of YouTube TV is that it enables you to watch content from three different devices at the same time. When you create an account, you’ll be given the option to create 6 accounts as well, one for each member of your family. This way, everyone can watch their own favorite content instead of being limited to what’s available in the main account.
YouTube TV also allows you to stream five different shows at the same time, three of which can be watched away from the house! YouTube TV is available for streaming on a variety of devices, including smartphones, tablets, and PCs.
Has YouTube TV Bought PlayStation Vue?
No. While most people thought that YouTube TV was launched as a result of PlayStation Vue closing, this isn’t the case.
All that YouTube did was win a bid that allowed it to advertise its own service on the PlayStation Vue website and email service.
Will YouTube TV Replace PlayStation Vue?
Certainly. Based on how similar both streaming services are, many users have reported the ease with which they were able to replace PlayStation Vue with YouTube TV.
The transition for many was seamless because these streaming services offer similar features, except PlayStation 4 support which YouTube TV understandably doesn’t provide.
However, YouTube heeded the call of its users. It announced that the service will be adding PlayStation 4 support in the near future.
