If you’re reading this then you’ve probably heard about the PlayStation Vue shut down and are looking for alternatives. For many people, PlayStation Vue was a cloud-based service that allowed users to stream content straight from their PlayStation TV, and PlayStation 3 and 4 devices. Pretty neat, huh?
Unfortunately, Sony officially announced the PlayStation Vue shut down. This took place in January of 2020, much to the dismay of many. What makes YouTube TV different is the fact that it allows each user to have six profiles and stream three different shows at the same time. The best part is that all of this is available at a starting subscription price of $49.99 per month. This is identical to the PlayStation Access plan.
2. Hulu
Hulu offers a similar suite of benefits as PlayStation Vue. It features all the cord-cutter content that you’ve become accustomed to, including entertainment, news, and sports. This means you can catch all of your favorite shows from the Discovery Channel, ESPN, Big Ten Network, ACC Network, Fox News and MSNBC to name but a few.
A Hulu subscription starts at $54.99 but there’s a free trial available so you can get your feet wet and see if it’s for you. Suffice to say, Hulu is way cheaper than PlayStation Vue, yet it offers pretty much the same value.
3. FuboTV
FuboTV is yet another sports streaming service with over 100 live channels that rose to prominence after the PlayStation Vue shut down. It boasts 30 hours of Cloud DVR storage, the latest sports entertainment and live streaming and more. With a starting subscription price of $54.99 per month, FuboTV is perfect for sports aficionados.
4. Philo
If you find yourself counting your pennies in 2020, then Philo is the streaming service you should look into. It comes with 59 live channels that include Hallmark, Nickelodeon, Discovery, and HGTV to name but a few. The service offers a 48-hour free trial with no sign up needed.
That way, you can “opt-out” without worrying that they’ve got your credentials and credit card information. But, if you find that you actually like the service and want to sign up, expect to pay only $20 per month for all their available content.
5. Sling TV
There’s a reason why Sling TV has been around so long and survived the PlayStation Vue shut down. This live TV streaming service continues to evolve and innovate to include a wide variety of networks. It also helps that Sling TV comes with unique features such as DVR functionality.
This is a great service for anyone that wants to minimize costs by paying only for the channels that they actually watch. This is made possible by the Sling Orange plan. It comes highly recommended for new customers. This plan starts at $30 a month and comes with 30+ channels.
Next, you have the Sling Blue plan which costs $30 per month as well. But comes with 45 limited channels. Lastly, the $45 per month plan is called Orange+ Blue and offers the best of both worlds with an unlimited number of channels.
6. Vidgo
Vidgo is a live TV streaming app that came out recently. With subscription plans that start at $39.99 a month, you can get access to content from the NFL Network and ESPN channels among others.
