Disney fans are eager to find out if there’s any new Disney show now that the Disney+ has been launched. Disney+ is Disney’s very own streaming service that allows you to watch Disney films and shows. So, what else can you expect from this new streaming platform?
Aside from an impressive library of original Disney films, Disney+ will also offer tons of original TV series. Some of them are still in the works. There are films with hefty budgets and some are remakes of old-time favorites. Sounds interesting, right?
Let’s take a closer look at what you can expect from the new Disney+ streaming platform.
Available from Day One
Movie bingers, take note. New content will be coming out every week so you cannot really watch an entire season in a single sitting like in Netflix.
1. The Mandalorian
Disney has allocated a hefty budget for this show, which is part of the Star Wars Universe. It will be available as soon as Disney+ is launched. However, only one episode will be released each week for this 8-episode series. So, what can you expect from this new series? It’s about Mandalorian or those guys wearing the armor of Boba Fett from Star Wars.
2. The World According to Jeff Goldblum
This new Disney series features Jeff Goldblum, also known as Doctor Ian Malcolm, a famous character in Jurassic Park. It looks into the science of the objects we get to encounter every day in our lives.
3. High School Musical: The Series
Yes, the High School Musical is back! But this will be a new series and not some kind of a sequel or remake. This new Disney show features a meta-concept, which is about a high school that’s putting up production for the High School Musical.
4. The Imagineering Story
This docu-series features Angela Bassett, who starred in the Black Panther movie. She will take viewers throughout Disney Imagineering’s 65 years of history.
5. Encore
On Encore, Kristen Bell will reunite with the old cast of High School Musical for an impressive performance. This show will be available on November 12.
New Marvel Series
Even though these characters are not the stars of the MCU series, they will now have the chance to share their own stories.
1. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier
This will be the first-ever Marvel series on the streaming service and will premiere in fall 2020. In this show, Sebastian Stan returns as Bucky Barnes and Anthony Mackie returns as Sam Wilson.
2. Loki
Loki stars Tom Hiddleston and follows him as he uses his ability to shift shapes in order to pop-up all throughout history while influencing various events. This movie will premiere around the spring of 2021.
3. WandaVision
Premiering in spring 2021, the WandaVision is a new Disney show that will delve deeper into the story of the Vision and Scarlet Witch. Paul Bettany and Elizabeth Olsen star in this movie that will be directed by Matt Shakman of the Game of Thrones.
4. Hawkeye
In Hawkeye, Jeremy Renner returns and will co-star with Hailee Steinfeld. The movie is expected to debut in the fall of 2021.
5. What If...?
What If is an animated Disney show offering a glimpse of the alternate Marvel world and how things would turn out to be if pivotal moments in the Marvel world went in a different direction.
6. Marvel's Hero Project
Marvel’s Hero Project is a 20-episode docu-series that puts IRL heroes in the spotlight. They are young people who have made a positive impact in the community. The first episode is expected to premiere on November 12, which is when Disney+ is launched.
Star Wars
If you are a big fan of the Star Wars series that don’t include Skywalkers, then you’ll surely appreciate what Disney+ has on offer for you.
1. Star Wars: The Clone Wars
Fans were very upset when they learned this animated series was canceled. But they can now rejoice as it’s finally revived. The show’s Season 7 is set to premiere in February, 2020.
2. Obi-Wan Kenobi
This isn’t the show’s official title, but McGregor has confirmed that he will be returning to play the character of the younger Obi-Wan. There’s nothing else known about it. Not even the release date.
3. Cassian Andor
Although it’s not yet the official title, in this new Disney show, Rogue One will return with its own series. It will be some kind of a spy caper and Disney is planning to launch the series in 2021.
Original Series
They may not be Star Wars or Marvel, but these series are sure to give life to your favorite Disney shows and characters.
1. Monsters at Work
Monsters at Work comes after the release of Monsters Inc and Monsters University. This animated show tells the story of Mike and Sully about 6 months after the Monsters Inc. took place.
2. Diary of a Female President
Gina Rodrigues will be behind this story that follows a 12-year old American girl from Cuba. This girl becomes the president of the United States. The series is expected to launch in 2020.
3. Lizzie McGuire
Terri Minsky and Hillary Duff will both return for new seasons of this famous series. In this new Disney show, Lizzie is 30 years old and lives in New York City.
4. Love, Simon
Here, Michael Cimino plays the lead character, and the show revolves around YA teen romance.
Conclusion
The lineup of Disney shows is truly interesting and is definitely worth waiting for. But take note that these series are not the only offerings on Disney+. There will be hundreds of Disney titles coming your way.
