We highly recommend this configuration because it worked really well for us and features very quality components.

The X96 Max Android TV Box is unique from other streaming devices that run on the Android operating system. This particular model runs on Android 8.1 Oreo instead of Android TV.
Android 8.1 is a stock version of the OS that’s used in operating tablets and smartphones. On the other hand, Android TV is a Google-powered OS that’s particularly designed to stream content on TV screens using Mi Box, NVIDIA SHIELD etc.
Not to be outdone, Amazon has created its own OS called Fire OS, which is what’s behind the Fire TV and Fire TV Stick devices.
The X96 Max Android TV Box is the perfect alternative when you are not heavily using the common streaming services like Amazon Prime, Netflix and Hulu. While Firestick and Mi Box are arguably the best devices to use when utilizing these streaming services.
Pros
There’s a lot to like about the X96 Max Android TV Box. First of all, it has a fast processor that doesn’t cause any buffering when streaming or downloading content.
The processor also supports USB 3.0 for speedy data transfer, especially when you’ve hooked up an external drive to your device. The Android 8 Oreo operating system makes for a really smooth user experience here and we wouldn’t trade it for anything else.
We were quite pleased to find that this device comes with 5GHz Wi-Fi which is absolutely essential nowadays. Another benefit of purchasing this device is the 4GB of DDR4 RAM which allows you to multi-task without slowing down your streaming and download speeds.
The X96 Max Android TV Box also shines when it comes to storage space because it comes with 64GB of ROM space. That’s more than enough to store all of your games, movies, TV series etc.
Cons
Although the X96 Max Android TV Box is a cutting-edge streaming device, it does have a few noticeable flaws. For one, it comes with a cheaply made IR remote, but this won’t be an issue if you have an alternative like the

at your disposal. This will take care of most of the hassle that comes with using the IR remote.
It’s also worth noting here that the X96 Max doesn’t stream Amazon Prime as do Firestick , for example. That’s because the latter devices have the appropriate licensing rights to get high-quality content.
Otherwise, if you’re looking to enjoy IPTV on the X96 Max, then you’ll have a great time because it works really well in this regard.
While download speeds could be faster, we didn’t see any discrepancies in speed when using a VPN.
Conclusion
Android has released quite a few of these TV Boxes in the last few years, and each one is better than the last. However, we really liked using the X96 Max Android TV Box. It offers great value for money and it’s powerful enough to play 4K and HD quality video without buffering issues.
It has a lot of storage and offers an ideal alternative to gamers and TV show pundits who’re looking for an alternative to the Firebox and NVIDIA SHIELD devices. The X96 Max really holds its own as the best Android streaming device on the market.
