Disney Plus Launch Europe Will Come At 25% Less Bandwidth

The Disney Plus launch Europe slated for March 24 is set to come with a slashed bandwidth of about 25% less. This announcement came along with another. The company has delayed the initial launch until the 7th of April in France.

According to Kevin Mayer, the delay is in response to a request by the European Union government.

Netflix had a similar announcement to make this past Thursday. The company said it would limit content streaming quality for the next month or so. This is while the majority of Europe remains under quarantine due to the COVID-19 crisis.

These restrictions are meant to ease the strain posed by the worldwide lockdown on communications networks.

What is Disney Doing?

Disney is known for its willingness to comply with responsible bandwidth utilization measures. There’s no denying that the Disney Plus launch Europe is one of the biggest in history. With so many fans staying home due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the reception could’ve possibly crashed the Internet.

Thierry Breton, the European Commissioner for Internal Market is the one who gave the order for Disney Plus and other streaming companies to lower bandwidth utilization. This is to ensure that broadband infrastructure functions smoothly. The company’s bandwidth utilization is expected to decrease by up to 25% leading up to its European launch.

The company will also monitor Internet traffic for signs of congestion. It will take whatever measures are necessary to reduce bitrates and reduce strain due to consumer demand. With that said, the

Disney Plus launch Europe will provide some much-needed entertainment variety for parents of school-going children. That’s because children are always looking for new content to keep them occupied.

Launch in France

france launch

Due to the French government’s request, the Disney Plus launch Europe: France edition will happen on the 7th of April. This is instead of the 24th of March like the rest of Europe.

Otherwise, content quality restrictions have been rolled out all throughout Europe until further notice. This is to help Internet gridlock that could happen as a result of increased demand on platforms such as YouTube and Netflix.

This means that during peak demand periods, users can expect to only have access to standard definition content. This is to avoid Internet overwhelm on telecom operators. This couldn’t have come at a better time, as the internet will be awash with friends and family keeping in touch via daily digital messages and video chat, as well as video conferences between business associates.

Users, telecom operators and streaming platforms must all work together to ensure that the Internet continues to work smoothly. This is all while the world is on lockdown due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
